Build notes / Choose with a purpose

Give every talent choice a job.

A useful build solves a problem you recognize in a match. Start with a role and a goal, then test one change at a time.

Read the rows in the current client.

Arena of Champions presents talents as row-based choices. Compare the options in each available row and read what they change: a passive effect, an existing ability or an additional active button.

Look for conditions as well as benefits. A talent that depends on a particular ability, resource state or control effect is useful only when you can make that condition happen.

Set a goal for the build.

Choose your class and specialization to turn a broad goal into a practice priority. This worksheet helps you decide which talent effects to investigate.

Warrior · Arms

Review talents that help you keep useful pressure on a target. Practise reaching melee range and keeping enough resources for the next attack.

Compare choices against the same situation.

  • Pressure: can you use the effect when you and your partner are ready to attack?
  • Survival: does it answer the kind of damage or control that caused your last loss?
  • Control: can your partner follow the setup, and do you understand the current restrictions?
  • Usability: can you reliably reach and track another active button?

A conditional bonus is not automatically better than a simpler option. Use a talent you can apply consistently while learning the class.

Keep the experiment small.

Use the same class, specialization and practice opponent while changing one choice. Decide what success looks like before the test: surviving an attack, connecting to the target or creating a clear window for a partner.

Revisit your choices when the game updates or your team composition changes. A build for solo duels may need different answers in a team bracket.
